Wednesday Morning Online Fall 2022 Breath Class with Certified Buteyko teacher Kathleen Rea - 9 class series.

REGISTRATION: 

DESCRIPTION: Buteyko breathing teaches you to breathe more gently and less rapidly and through your nose. You’ll learn to breathe slower and deeper, which balances your breathing rhythms and nervous system and help you get more restful sleep. Can work to improve causes and/or symptoms of asthma, disturbed sleep, insomnia and anxiety as well as help with fitness performance and concentration. Kathleen will also use her knowledge of functional movement to teach you exercises that will help you strengthen your tongue and deep front line designed help you breath through your nose and improve your breathing posture.

TIME: 9:30 am to 11:00 am

CLASS SIZE: limited to 12 people so attention can be given to everyone.

TEACHER:
Kathleen Rea has been teaching dance and dancing professionally for over 30 years. She danced with Canada’s Ballet Jorgen, National  Ballet of Canada & Tiroler Landestheater (Austria) as well as  freelancing. Kathleen has been and continues to be a faculty member at George Brown College dance program since 1999. Currently she also teaches movement at the  Centennial College Acting Program. 

Kathleen is the founder and director of REAson d’etre dance a  not-for-profit dance company based in Toronto, Canada. REAson d’etre  dance productions who produces a weekly dance jam in Toronto, Contact Dance International Film Festival, and dance-theatre productions. 

Kathleen has choreographed over 40 dance  works and been nominated for 5 DORA awards. Kathleen has a Master’s  in Expressive Arts Therapy with a minor in Psychology and a Psychology certificate from Toronto Metropolitan University. She is the author  of “The Healing Dance” published by Charles C.  Thomas. Kathleen was was a registered  Psychotherapist for  in private practice for 17 years and recently left her private practice to peruse the Moving Breath Project. 

Being on the autism spectrum she also identifies as being neuro-atypical and  works to educate the world about neurodiversity. While having autism bring with is challenges it also strengthen Kathleen's ablity to see details and patterns in both  movement and emotional expression which add to skill level  to her work.

Kathleen has a passion for  functional movement and is teacher candidate of the Axis Syllabus since 2014.  She has started on this journey of study after her dance career left her with numerous chronic injuries. Through a slow process of learning to move functionally she was able to regain her ablity to dance. It is joy to for her pass on a "user guide to the body" so that other can find there own way and arrive at what ever out come may arrive from that.

Kathleen is also passionate about the Buteyko Breath Techniques and practices them  daily. They have helped her have enhanced endurance in her dancing and  also to work to calm her nervous stysyetm in the midst her busy life  taking care of her children and running her dance company. Kathleen  trained with Patrick McKeown through the Buteyko Breath Clinic and  became certified as a teacher in 2022.
