Goals: The goals of the Regional Learning Collaborartives are to enhance the skills of prevention practitioners and prepare them for becoming an Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist (OCPSA, OCPS, or OCPC).

Objectives: At the conclusion of this Regional Learning Collaborative, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate understanding of the Ohio Chemical Dependency Board’s Certified Prevention Specialist requirements.
  • Connect his or her experiences in ATOD prevention with those working in prevention across the state and in other communities.
  • Identify emerging trends in ATOD use and misuse and discuss efforts to reduce substance abuse in their communities.
  • Obtain and compile resources within the science of prevention.

Hands On Coaching: Please bring copies of your past prevention training certificates/CEUs. The afternoon session will be dedicated to working on the requirements necessary to obtain your Ohio Prevention Specialist credentials; this includes reviewing past CEUs to determine if they meet the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board’s Specific Prevention Education Areas.

Continuing Education: 4.0 hr Prevention CEU hours have been approved.

Lunch: We will break for lunch for 1/2 hour; if you prefer to bring your own lunch you are welcome to do so.

Prerequisite:  Prior to attending the Regional Learning Collaborative, we would like to you to view a series of 4 webinars.  These webinars are designed to offer guidance related to the Ohio Prevention Specialist Credentials application process and will help you with your individual professional development goals.  Please copy the link below and into your browser to access this series of webinars.
