Unwanted and intrusive thoughts and images related to violence and sex can be extremely troublesome to clients and can make even the most experienced therapist uneasy. The goal of this workshop is to demystify the process of working with such extreme obsessive thoughts and assist clinicians in providing safe and effective treatment.
This workshop is intended to be an advanced training for therapists who work with individuals with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. It is recommended that attendees have a working knowledge and experience with Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) as fundamentals of the method will not be reviewed at length
Learning Objectives:
- Learn about the various forms of obsessions as they relate to harm and sex, including harm by mental activity and sexual impulses
- Develop safe and ethical exposures to use with clients to address obsessions and compulsions.
- Develop practical tools to help clients alter their distorted beliefs using CBT, ERP and Minfulness.
Registration will open at 9:30am
Continental Breakfast will be served at 9:30, and lunch will be provided.
