Join us for a Saturday or Sunday learning the art of spoon carving in the beautiful Harcourt Oak Forest, Harcourt. Planted in 1900 as a permanent source of tanning materials from bark and acorns. The oaks now cover around 3 acres, set in a the Harcourt Valley bush land.

All carving tools and materials required for the workshop are provided, and additional carving tools will be available for purchase on the day. Please wear closed toe shoes and comfortable clothing for safety. BYO lunch as nearest store is a short drive away. There is only a small general store and a servo to choose from.

Taking place just a week after the awesome Lost Trades Fair, these two back-to-back workshops are great for people who who have never carved a thing in their life, and for people with some carving experiecne there will still be lots to learn.

You'll be shown how to select wood straight from a tree and safely turn it into a beautiful hand carved wooden spoon using just a small axe and a couple of knives.

Everyone will have time to make a spoon in one day and for people wanting to book for both days you will be shown the many different traditional ways to carve a spoon!

Just turn up and whittle!

Pete Trott and Jeff Donne are two of Australia's best known spoon carvers with many years of carving and teaching under their belts. Both Pete and Jeff teach the traditional method of spoon carving where a small axe and a sharp knife are used to slice away layers of wood from a freshly cut log. It's pure analogue bliss!
