Based on evidence from Hardiness, Resilience, Grit and Positive Psychology and grounded in Psychiatric Rehab practice the HT (Habitual Thriving) perspective proclaims and explains a model/framework for positive change for you and for your clients. The session includes identification of appropriate assessment tools for well-being, exploration of foundational knowledge related to habitual thriving and examples of implementing these strategies in practice.
The session will focus on connecting the ideology of Ubuntu and the services provided by Recreational Therapy for people with disabilities in various populations. The session will explore how these ideals can be put into place in order to improve the administration of TR programs through improved communication as well as advancing the profession through embracing these ideals as they apply to the foundational principles of TR.
Chair Chi is a gentle exercise program developed by Pat Griffith to help people receive the benefits of traditional Tai Chi Chuan in the comfort and safety of their chair. This allows individuals who cannot stand or do not feel confident with their balance (walker, wheelchair, movement disorder) to participate and benefit. Those benefits include balance, flexibility, range of motion, strength, energy, pain relief, stress reduction, and peace of mind. **Please note, if you received CEUs for this session during our fall conference you cannot receive CEUs for this session**
