Background Information 

Zhejiang Province

Zhejiang Province is located on the south eastern cost of China with a population of 57.37 million. Hangzhou is the capital city of Zhejiang Province. Zhejiang is one of the provinces with the smallest difference in economic development in China. Hangzhou, Ningbo, Shaoxing and Wenzhou are the four pillars of Zhejiang's economy. Among them, Hangzhou and Ningbo have long been among the top 20 economic powers in China.

In 2018, the gross domestic product (GDP) was 567.7 billion yuan, an increase of 7.1% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 16.7 billion yuan, the added value of the secondary industry was 2350.6 billion yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry was 3072.4 billion yuan, increasing by 1.9%, 6.7% and 7.8%, respectively. The contribution rate of the tertiary industry to GDP growth was 56.2%. The structure of added value of the three industries was adjusted from 3.7:43.0:53.3 last year to 3.5:41.8:54.7. GDP per capita was 98643 yuan (US$14907 at the annual average exchange rate), an increase of 5.7%. In 2018, the total import and export volume of goods was 2851.9 billion yuan, an increase of 11.4% over the previous year. Among them, export reached 2118.2 billion yuan, an increase of 9.0%, and export accounted for 12.9% of the country. The share increased by 0.2 percentage points over the  previous year; import reached 733.7 billion yuan, an increase of 19.0%. Private economy exports 1,653 billion yuan, an increase of 10.6%, accounting for 78.0% of total exports, an increase of 1.1 percentage points over the previous year. Exports of mechanical and electrical products reached 921.4 billion yuan, an increase of 9.6%, while exports of high-tech products reached 140.8 billion yuan, an increase of 11.5%. Imports and exports to the European Union and the United States increased by 9.3% and 10.1% respectively, with exports increasing by 7.8% and 12.2% respectively. The total number of imports and exports of the countries along the belt and road has increased by 12.3%, of which 682 billion 200 million yuan has been exported, an increase of 8.3%. Central Europe (Yixin Europe) has 320 classes. Promoting the expansion of China's (Zhejiang) free trade pilot area, in 2018 the FTA invested 41.9 billion yuan in fixed assets, added 7413 registered enterprises, 1998 new oil enterprises and 148.7 billion yuan in electronic trading of bulk commodities

Zhejiang Federation of Commerce and Industry

(Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce)

The China Federation of Industry and Commerce is a people's group and a non-governmental chamber of Commerce and industry led by the Communist Party of China, one of the constituent units of the People's Political Consultative Conference of China, a bridge and link between the Party and the government and non-public economic personages, and an assistant of the government in managing non-public economy.

Zhejiang Federation of Industry and Commerce is a provincial local organization of China Federation of Industry and Commerce, also known as Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce. It was founded in 1952. By the end of 2018, there were 289,300 members and 4185 chamber organizations in Zhejiang Federation of Industry and Commerce.

The main functions and tasks of Zhejiang Federation of Industry and Commerce are: to participate in the political consultation of the Party and the state policies and the important issues in the political, economic and social life of the province, to play a democratic supervisory role in participating in and discussing politics; to study and discuss the policies related to non-public economy, and to assist in the implementation of them; and to do a good job in non-public economy. The ideological and political work of the representatives of the state-owned economy shall publicize and implement the principles and policies of the Party and the state; participate in relevant economic activities to assist the government in inspecting and supervising the operation, finance and taxation of member enterprises; and participate in the work of technical appraisal, quality management, declaration of scientific and technological projects and product evaluation of member enterprises. To provide members with economic and legal consultation, financing, rights protection, science and technology, information, news and public opinion, management and other services to help members improve management, production technology and product quality; to actively develop cooperation and exchanges with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas business associations and business and economic circles, and to promote economic and trade cooperation and technology. Technical exchanges, assistance in introducing funds, technology and talents; organizing and organizing members to participate in various exhibitions and fairs at home and abroad, organizing members' overseas and outbound visits, helping members to open up domestic and international markets; guiding the work of federations of industry and Commerce (chambers of commerce) and directly affiliated chambers of commerce at all levels in the province, organizing and managing trade associations; The work of trade and trade associations (associations) shall assist relevant departments in guiding the work of private enterprise associations, individual workers' associations, foreign chambers of Commerce and associations with non-public economy as the main body.
