Neurodiversity is a 3 hour training that explores the history and current conditions effecting people with neurodiverse conditions, such as autism, brain injury, mental illness, learning disabilities and intellectual disability. We will discuss common obstacles to proper diagnosis and treatment, and well as the impact of care on families. People with neurodiverse conditions may also need special advocacy in dealing with school systems and getting the entitlements they need. Also, people with these conditions in particular face much increased risk for abuse and neglect. Racial and gender justice issues will also be discussed vis a vis working with this population.
