About the Speaker – Ashkan Rahmani, BSc, MSc, BSW
Ashkan’s interest in neurobiology of trauma started during his research at a PhD level in the area of Medical Physics. His pursuit of understanding how the neurobiological processes that occur during a traumatic experience can shape one’s reaction not only during but long after the traumatic experience motivated him to change the course of his research from Medical Physics to Social Work. Since then, Ash has worked with various vulnerable populations including LGBTQ+ individuals, refugees, survivors of sexual abuse, men with histories of trauma, and street-involved people across the country.
