Networking 101 for Millennials:
You’re continually told how important networking is, but few things strike more fear in the hearts of young job seekers than talking about themselves to someone they don’t know. The truth is that networking requires a set of skills that formal education rarely teaches you, skills that are essential to getting your career off to a good start and maximizing your success through life.
This workshop covers everything you need to increase your comfort and effectiveness in networking. Areas covered include:
What networking is and why it’s important
What holds you back
The basics -who, where and how to network
Social media and networking
Exercises and worksheets to help you prepare – your elevator speech, key messages, informational interview outlines
Preparing yourself mentally - the body language of confidence
This highly interactive workshop provides participants with up to date information and resources, opportunities for self- reflection and discussion in groups, as well as exercises and role play activities to practice new skills in a safe setting.
Facilitator Elaine Sigurdson brings over 25 years of experience as a career and leadership coach, an executive recruiter, and a human resources consultant. She has a Masters degree in Psychology and holds designations as a Certified Management Consultant and Coach and a Career Management Fellow through the Institute of Career Certification International.
