About This Course:

Our online CIP Deep Dive provides an instructor-led course utilizing our established curriculum along with additional self-study guides. This format combines the best aspects of our live, in-person training with the flexibility of an online format. Over three days, students will explore and absorb our CIP body of knowledge guided by our detailed course curriculum, access to an expert instructor, and online lecture and Q&A sessions.

 

This course will be offered beginning June 1st and presented over five online sessions on Thursdays.

June 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and July 1st

 

 

Participants will receive:

            (12-month minimum)

  • An electronic copy of our CIP Bootcamp curriculum and presentation slides.
  • Full-color printed book (available upon request).
  • Access to an online repository of reference documents used in the course.
  • Access to a library of recorded videos for deep dives into select areas (under development)
  • Right to attend an equivalent in-person course at no additional cost (subject to space availability)

Credentialing

As part of a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, EnergySec is developing competency-based credentials related to our CIP education program. CPE Credit

Certificates of completion will be provided after the class as documentation for Continuing Professional Education credit. The full CIP Deep Dive typically counts for 24 CPE hours and such will be reflected on the course certificate. Attendees should consult the CPE/CEU standards for their specific certifications or credentials to determine whether this course qualifies. EnergySec is unable to submit CPEs on behalf of attendees.

Cancellation policy

Registration is refundable if canceled prior to the start of class. Registration may be transferred to any equivalent future class or to another individual.

Wally Magda
Instructor

Wally Magda is an internationally recognized cyber security expert for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) with over 20 years of utility experience. His deep security experience spans military nuclear missile command and control systems, intelligence agencies, enterprise cyber security and industrial control systems. Wally has been involved with the NERC CIP standards from the early days of the UA 1200 standards. As a regional NERC CIP auditor he has performed over 100 NERC CIP on and off site audits in the roles of Audit Team Lead and team member. He recently retired from the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) and now conducts basic and advanced cyber and physical security training courses specific to Industrial Control Systems (ICS). Wally started out in the utility business as an Instrumentation, Control and Electrical (ICE) Tech. He then progressed to managing ICS as a process control engineer. Seeing the need for cyber security professionals to assist the industrial control vertical business units, he stepped into the enterprise level cyber security realm. Wally has conducted numerous ICS cyber and physical security assessments for electric, natural gas, chemical, LNG and manufacturing facilities. Wally earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) and holds a number of professional certifications including ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP), SANS GIAC Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP), ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP), ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and ISACA Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). He is also a Senior Member of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA).
