She is responsible for implementing NCRA’s educational initiatives to ensure NCRA provides the cancer surveillance community with comprehensive, high-quality training opportunities that are accessible, cost-effective, and forward-thinking. She led efforts to launch NCRA’s learning management system — the Center for Cancer Registry Education – and recently guided efforts to produce the fourth edition of the profession’s textbook, Cancer Registry Management Principles and Practice for Hospitals and Central Registries.

Dr. Timothy Stettheimer is Vice President of Education for the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), a 2,900-plus member professional organization. In this role, Dr. Stettheimer leads all education strategy for members and affiliate associations, as well as international efforts. Education initiatives include CHIME’s Fall and Spring Forums, CIO Bootcamps, Leadership Academies as well as other summits, workshops and symposia.
Dr. Stettheimer has previously served as a healthcare CIO for two decades and has worked with healthcare information technology and healthcare leaders for 25 years. He most recently served as the Regional Chief Information Officer for the South and Central Region of Ascension Information Services, which is made up of seven geographic markets as well as all senior living locations and all medical groups. Prior to his Ascension role, Dr. Stettheimer served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for St. Vincent’s Health System in Birmingham, Ala., and held leadership roles at Adventist Health System and Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.
Dr. Stettheimer earned a doctorate in information services focused on medical informatics, information theory and design, and information policy and management from the University of North Texas in Denton. He holds a master’s degree in applied cognition and neuroscience from the University of Texas in Dallas and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. Dr. Sandra Brightwell has 29 years of experience in Health Information Management, is a Registered Health Information Administrator, a Fellow of the American Health Information Management Association, and a Doctor of Educational Leadership. She was a first generation college student and is an alum from both Illinois State University and Northern Arizona University.
Dr. Brightwell is the Director of the CAHIIM accredited fully online Health Information Management Program at Central Arizona College, and has held this position since 2012. Additional efforts at CAC include teaching in HIM, Lead for Occupation Insight, Professional Development & Engagement Committee member, Equity Council member, Allied Health Articulation Task Force Liaison, AFIT participant, Trust Edge Team Lead and a co-lead of the Achieving the Dream student success team. Additionally, she serves as the CAC Institutional Representative for the Arizona Women in Higher Education (AWHE) association.
Dr. Brightwell is a former council member for AHIMA’s Council for Excellence in Education (CEE) and co-chaired the Curricular Workgroup in 2019. Dr. Brightwell has volunteered for the Arizona Health Information Management Association Board of Directors since 2003, and recently took office as President in 2021. She was the recipient of the AzHIMA Distinguished Member Award in 2010 and the AzHIMA Outstanding Service Award in 2006.
Furthermore, Dr. Brightwell serves as a Peer Reviewer for the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Ms. Jacqueline Moczygemba is an Associate Professor and Program Director for the BSHIM in the Department of Health Information Management at Texas State University. She entered the HIM profession in 1982 and recently completed her 25th year as a faculty member for Texas State University. Prior to teaching, Ms. Moczygemba spent 12 years as a director of HIM services in an acute care hospital. She also has several years of experience in HIM consulting in long-term healthcare. She received her Bachelor of Science in Medical Records Administration and Master of Business Administration from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University). Ms. Moczygemba holds certification as a registered health information administrator (RHIA) and coding specialist (CCS). She was named a Fellow of the American Health Information Management Association in 2012. Ms. Moczygemba is a member of the editorial review panel for Perspectives in Health Information Management.

Dr. Carla Tyson-Howard serves as the Program Director of the Health Information Technology at Houston Community College in Texas. As a graduate of Incarnate Word University, she holds the credential of RHIA with a Doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration from Texas Southern University and a Master’s of Health Care Administration from Texas Woman’s University.
She has authored textbooks, DVDs, CDs, and articles for the advancement of Health Information Technology education. She has presented at local, state and national conventions. To ensure the continuity of her students’ education, she established a named scholarship at Houston Community College for students enrolled in the Health Information Technology program.
Dr. Tyson-Howard has served as vice-president of the Houston Area Health Information Management Association, volunteered with the YMCA and served on the Minority Achievers Steering Committee.

Ms. Tammie M. Jones, is a doctoral student of health services research with a concentration in health policy at George Mason University. Ms. Jones is a retired Army Medical Service Corps Officer and a board-certified healthcare executive with over 20 years of experience in primary, specialty and tertiary care settings. Her leadership roles span stand-alone clinics to a Level I trauma center. In addition to her extensive experience in healthcare delivery, she provided consulting to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Veterans Health Administration, and the Office of the Assistance Secretary for Preparedness and Response.
Ms. Jones's dissertation research is focused on the effects of nurse practitioner state scope of practice laws on access to care in rural communities.

Mrs. Marissa Lajaunie, MBA, RHIA obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in HIM in 2009 and an MBA in 2011 both from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She has also been a RHIA since 2009. Prior to returning to UL Lafayette as an Instructor in January of 2015, Mrs. Lajaunie was employed as the Assistant Administrator of an inpatient psychiatric facility and two outpatient mental health clinics where she was responsible for the overall leadership and operation of the facility’s services, departments, and functions. Mrs. Lajaunie teaches several junior and senior level courses and serves as the Health Information Management Internship Director. Mrs. Lajaunie co-authors Delmar Cengage Learning’s annual publications aimed at preparing students for the AHIMA certification examinations. Dr. PJ Maddox is Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Administration and Policy at George Mason University. She is a nurse with a distinguished career in health services administration, health policy analysis and health services research. Dr. Maddox's academic and research interests range from health reform to understanding the impact of financing arrangements and delivery systems on health care quality and access, to health workforce planning. She is a recognized expert in health systems management, health reform policy and health services research.
Dr. Maddox came to Mason in 1995 from the National Institutes of Health. At Mason she developed the graduate programs in health administration and policy and established the health services research program in the Center for Health Policy, Research & Ethics where she served as its Director. At the Clinical Center of the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, she served as a Clinical Center Deputy Director. Prior to NIH, she has held management and academic teaching appointments in a variety of universities and academic medical centers throughout the US.

Dr. Danette Myers has a Bachelor of Science Health Information Management from Southwest Texas State University, a Master of Business Administration from LeTourneau University, and a Ph.D. in Adult Professional Community Education, from Texas State University. Dr. Myers started with HIM in 2006 after having worked as the Health Information Management Security Officer for an Austin hospital for four years. Her primary areas of teaching currently include HIM Departmental Management, HIM Governance and medical terminology. She is also the lead faculty in the HIM Practicum and HIM Seminar courses taken by the seniors during their internship semester. After 14 years of teaching at, as well as being involved in student and leadership development here at Texas State, she recently earned her doctorate degree, August 2019.

Ms. Valerie Schmitt Prater holds an MBA and Certificate in Health Services Administration. Her previous experience includes instruction for University of Connecticut’s online Health Information Technology Certificate, a graduate program she helped develop, and administration for DeVry University where she developed curricula and provided national direction of associate and baccalaureate health information management programs.
Ms. Prater currently serves on the Health Information Management Accreditation Council of the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Dr. Laurie A. Rinehart-Thompson is the director of the HIM program and a professor at The Ohio State University. Her experiences span acute care, home health, behavioral health, and education. She has testified in privacy civil litigation as an expert witness. She serves on the AHIMA Council for Excellence in Education, has chaired the AHIMA Professional Ethics Committee, and has served on numerous AHIMA committees. Dr. Rinehart-Thompson has presented on topics including the HIPAA privacy rule and pedagogical best practices in HIM. Dr. Lynette Williamson has been in the field of Health Information Management (HIM) for over thirty years. Currently, she is serving on the Commission on Certification for Health Informatics and Information Management (CCHIIM) for AHIMA. For seven years, Dr. Williamson served as a Commissioner for the Commission on Accreditation for Health Information and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Dr. Williamson is an Assistant Professor at the University of Hawai’i-West O’ahu. Dr. Williamson earned her B.S. in Health Information Management from Florida International University, an MBA with a concentration in Global Management from University of Phoenix, and an Ed.D. in educational leadership with the concentration of Higher Education from Gwynedd Mercy University. Dr. Wojtusiak is an associate professor of health informatics in the George Mason University Department of Health Administration and Policy, and the Division Director for Mason’s Programs in Health Informatics. He also serves as the director of the GMU Machine Learning and Inference Laboratory, and the director of GMU Center for Discovery Science and Health Informatics.
Dr. Wojtusiak obtained with honors his Master’s degree in Computer Science from Jagiellonian University in 2001, and Ph.D. in Computational Sciences and Informatics (concentration in Computational Intelligence and Knowledge Mining) from George Mason University in 2007.
Dr. Wojtusiak’s research interests include development and use of intelligent systems in healthcare. In particular he focuses on creating artificial intelligence algorithms for clinical decision support and knowledge discovery in medical data, and supporting health services research. He authored or co-authored about 100 research publications and presentations in these areas.
