 Brainspotting Phase 2 is designed to add upon the powerful tool box of Phase 1 techniques. Phase 2 is only available if you have completed Phase 1 due to the integration necessary to utilize Phase 2 techniques effectively. The techniques trained in Phase two are commonly regarded for highly effective resourcing capability and additional tools for processing complex trauma. In Brainspotting Phase two we advance upon proven Phase 1 techniques by covering the following: • Z Axis: Adding in distance and proxemics into the use of the BSP pointer • One Eye BSP: Utilizing goggles to strategically utilize one eye at a time. • Outside-Inside BSP: Utilizing two proven techniques together effectively • Rolling Brainspotting: Slow movements to produce thorough result

Meet the Trainer Steve Sawyer, LCSW CASC ____ Steve Sawyer is a highly experienced clinician and trainer with a wide span of experiences in settings spanning outpatient, residential, school, and wilderness therapeutic realms. He is the Chief Clinical Trainer for the CALO Programs group of ten residential treatment settings. Steve has been through all Phases of Brainspotting Training and is a highly experienced Brainspotting Phase 1 Trainer giving trainings across the country. Steve is additionally a therapeutic development staff with the Institute of HeartMath, works collaboratively with The Trauma Center of Boston, and spends time with many of the Trauma Masters like Stephen Porges, Bessel van der Kolk, Gabor Mate, Joseph Spinazzola, and Robert Scaer. Steve integrates this expert depth of cutting edge treatment knowledge into all of his Brainspotting trainings. The meaning behind Steve’s passionate work with Historical trauma took a big significant and meaningful turn when his Grandmother, who was a known adoptee revealed his Native family roots at 88 years old. The healing of shame along with the accompanying secrecy as a result of colonialism and healing historical trauma remain some of Steve’s most passionate career works. Steve’s life remains highly committed to a the traditional “Chanku Luta” (Red Road) Native way of life. ____

Area of clinical preference/specialty: Area of clinical preference/specialty: Regina is a member of the United Houma Nation (Louisiana). She participates in local tribal activities in California where she resides currently and has experience working with diverse populations. Regina is also a resource around Middle Eastern culture (spouse is from Persia), First/Second Responders, addiction (over 20 yrs experience), complex/developmental trauma, Historical/Intergenerational/Soul Wound Trauma as well as adoption (all members of the triad). She has been part of POC coalitions within a County organization and collaboratively planning BIPOC cultural events. She has also presented to groups regarding the overlaps and parralels between Native/Indigenous tradition and Brainspotting. Regina has trained in Brainspotting (certified since 2017 & has completed Phases I-IV), EMDR (certified), IFS/Parts Work, Mindfulness/Mind Body Medicine & Somatic Experiencing (Beg & Int Levels). She utilizes a strength based, culturally sensitive/informed approach and loves working with other clinicians who want to learn Brainspotting more deeply to strengthen their skills/knowledge. She has been in private practice since 2010 and is currently working on a PhD in Natural/Integrative Medicine.
