The NASW-Oklahoma Continuing Education Program is the longest serving Social Work CEU program in the State of Oklahoma. James Smith is currently the Performance Improvement Coordinator for NorthCare in Oklahoma City, and teaches as an adjunct professor for the Social Sciences department at Oklahoma City Community College. He has a passion for promoting education in many arenas, and refers to this as “proactive social work.” He serves as the president for a local virtual charter school board focused on alternative education. He came to social work later in life after careers as a chef and website designer when he was younger.
Tina L. Peterson, PhD, MPH, CSW, LMSW is an Associate Professor at the University of Oklahoma’s Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work. She serves on the NASW Aging Specialty Practice Section Committee. Her current research explores self-management of hypertension in African American women family caregivers.
Phelica Glass is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker with a successful psychotherapy practice in Topeka, KS. Graduate of Washburn University with a bachelor’s in Behavioral Sciences. Graduate of Tulane University of New Orleans with a Masters in Clinical Social Work and certification of Gerontology. Through further education Phelica has attained certification in Child And Adolescent Grief Counseling, Sex Offender Treatment , Ecotherapy and Anger Management.
Amber Jewell, LMSW has been a social worker for over 15 years working with children, families, and individuals from all dynamics and life structures. She is a foster parent, adoptive parent, and advocate for child welfare services across the country. She is compassionate, authentic, and cares for the value of all people. Amber believes all people have the ability and right to live a life that helps them be the best versions of themselves. She excels at solution-focused services that build strengths for and within people.
