Join the National Association of Social Workers – DC Metro Chapter for our 9th Biennial Conference showcasing the 2017 NASW Social Work Month them Social Workers Stand Up! It is without dispute that NASW and the social work profession recognize the immediacy and importance of social justice as an imperative for the clients we serve. For our 2017 conference, we are excited to explore some of the more contemporary issues facing social work professionals.
Earn up to 15 Category I contact hours of continuing education credit through our pre-conference workshop and an assortment of presentations in our conference tracks on child welfare, aging, behavioral and mental health, medical and health, and macro & international practice. Opportunities to earn CE hours in HIV & Ethics will be provided in our pre-conference session, "If I had Known..."- Long-Term HIV/AIDS Survivor Syndrom and Ethical Implications for Social Workers.
On both Thursday and Friday there will be general sessions including a keynote titled Standing Up for Ourselves: Resilience-Driven Social Work Leadership and our plenary session: Improving Access to Social Work and Mental Health Services Through Ethical Community Engagement & Marketing. Friday will include sessions on current trends in aging practice, Restorative Justice, and working with LGBTQ clients. In addition, conference registration includes break-out sessions in the following tracks: Aging Issues, Child Welfare & School Social Work, Behavioral/Mental Health, Medical and Health, and Macro Social Work Practice.
Lunch will be included on both days, with a networking lunch on Thurday and our Chapter Awards Ceremony on Friday. Come network with your social work colleagues and celebrate Social Work Month 2017.
The conference runs from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day and includes 6 contact hours of CE credit each day. Opportunities to earn ethics credit will be available, however, we are only offering HIV/AIDS credit during our pre-conference intensive.
