2019 Nashville 102 Lecture Series: Beyond the Antebellum Past, Toward a Global Future (1865-2010)

Back by popular demand, Dr. Carole Bucy, Davidson County Historian, will present a new series of her popular Nashville 102 classes for 2019. This series will focus on Nashville’s history from the Reconstruction Era up to the recent past.

• Session 1- Monday, September 9: “Gilded Age Nashville- Becoming the Athens of the South (1865-1900)”
• Session 2- Monday, September 16: “Progresive Era Nashville- Becoming the Wall Street of the South (1900-1939)”
• Session 3- Monday, September 23: “War, Peace, and Music (1939-1957)”
• Session 4- Monday, September 30: “Living and Working Together: Integrating the People- Integrating the Government (1958-2010)”

Due to the popularity of these classes and space limitations, pre-registration is required. Although Dr. Bucy contributes her time to teach these classes, we request that registrants make a $25.00 contribution to the Metro Historical Commission Foundation. Your contribution will be used to fund local historic preservation projects. These funds have assisted with projects at Nashville City Cemetery, Two Rivers Mansion, and Fort Negley; DNA analysis of the African Americans buried at Grassmere; and interpretive signage at Buchanan Station Cemetery.
