This is your chance to come and find out more about the Mindfulness Foundation course for staff and the Mindfulness and Contemplative Education course for students, which both run in semester 2. The session will provide some background and rationale for these courses as well as taster practices to give you an initial experience to help you decide whether to join. Mindfulness increases moment-to-moment awareness and can help you to respond more creatively and appropriately to whatever comes your way in your work, studies, relationships and life in general. It can make you more conscious of your own physical, mental and emotional states and responses and therefore fosters knowledge of self, relationships and world. Mindfulness can improve the quality of life and transform the way you think and feel about your experience of day to day living. It cultivates a compassionate and holistic  approach to living. The various benefits of the practices are well documented in the research literature. The foundation courses offer you the opportunity to develop your practice within a supportive community. They are open to  anyone interested in cultivating and integrating mindfulness and contemplation in their everyday life, study and work. The session is followed by the lunchtime mindfulness drop-in session which you are welcome to join.
