About the Event

Mind Body Studies; the Work of Dr. Feldenkrais

with Mia Segal and Leora Gaster

How can we enhance our mind and body potential to become the best we can be?  How can we find a path towards expressing our best selves in all the spheres of our lives?

Our brain is in charge of our body and thoughts.  Through our body we gather information from the world around us: by seeing, hearing and feeling.  Through our body we express and execute instructions from the brain, in a continuous cycle of interaction.

Dr. Feldenkrais' Mind Body Studies clarifies to you your own, unique connections of thought and action, and guides you in exploring additional choices, thereby empowering you toward your optimal wellbeing and self-expression.

In this workshop, Masters Mia Segal and Leora Gaster will provide you with an experience to learn how awareness of your movements is directly connected to your thought process and self-image, to open a world of new possibilities and potential.

This workshop applies the latest developments in utilizing mind body connections, to give you a practical set of skills with which to make the most of the opportunities and challenges of life.

The workshop comprises of group classes and partner work.  The group classes allow you to discover individually your own patters of thought and movement. The class is interspersed with demonstrations and explanations.

"Movement and awareness were the tools that Dr. Feldenkrais chose to prove his philosophy.  The genius of these theories is that they are grounded and you can perform and apply them practically.  Theories are interesting, yet unless you bring them to life they remain useless"  Mia Segal.

Esalen Institute:

Since 1962, Esalen Institute has been devoted to the exploration of what Aldous Huxley called the "human potential" - the world of unrealized human capacities that lies at the growing edge of consciousness. Esalen is known for a blend of East/West philosophies, experiential/didactic workshops, a steady influx of expert teachers from around the world, and breathtaking grounds and natural hot springs.  Once home to a Native American tribe called the Esselen, Esalen is situated on the spectacular Big Sur coastline with the Santa Lucia Mountains rising sharply behind.
