Welcome to the 2017 Michigan Modern Arnis Summer Camp! This camp will focus on Modern Arnis, a practical yet extremely POWERFUL martial art as taught by the late Grandmaster Remy Presas. This event will provide FOUR intense days of martial arts training with TWO of the very best instructors in the world. This camp is geared for anyone who wants to gain knowledge in martial arts and self defense. From the first time beginner to the seasoned expert. EVERYONE will benefit from the knowledge of these experts while enjoying a comfortable and friendly training atmosphere.
INSTRUCTORS
Master of Tapi-Tapi Chuck Gauss (Camp Host)
Since the age of six, Master Gauss has studied all different styles of martial arts, including Japanese Jiu Jitsu, Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwan Do and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. However, he found his calling in 1991 when he met Grandmaster Remy Presas, the founder of Modern Arnis. In December 2000, Master Gauss was one of seven people in the world promoted to Master of Tapi-Tapi by Professor Presas. A retired defensive tactics and PPCT instructor during his distinguished 24 year career as a law enforcement officer, Master Gauss currently serves as an executive protection specialist. In addition, he runs his own martial arts school while serving on the board of directors of the Internation Modern Arnis Federation, the official Modern Arnis organization founded by Grandmaster Presas. His achievements and credentials include:
* Master of Tapi-Tapi in Modern Arnis from Professor Remy Presas.
* 7th Degree Black Belt in Ryukyu Kempo from Grandmaster George Dillman.
* 1st Degree Black Belt in Judo.
Master Of Tapi-Tapi Ken Smith
Sensei Ken began his study of karate in Indiana at 18 years old. After moving to Orland Park, he studied Isshinryu Karate under Jesse Gallegoes, a 9th degree black belt, it was in this style that Sensei Ken earned a 6th degree black belt. He continued to grow as a martial artist, studying Modern Arnis and pressure points with George Mazek, a 4th degree black belt in Modern Arnis. However, it as his introduction and training with Grandmaster Remy A. Presas, founder and creator of Modern Arnis, that impacted Sensei Ken’s training immensely. Grandmaster Presas, know as ‘Professor’, promoted him to the level of Master of Tapi-Tapi. An active leader of the International Modern Arnis Federation, he continues to pass on Professor’s art, traveling all over the United States, France, England, Germany and Canada. His achievements and credentials include:
* Master of Tapi-Tapi in Modern Arnis from Professor Remy Presas.
* 9th Degree Black Belt in Ryukyu Kempo from Grandmaster George Dillman.
* 6th Degree Black Belt in Isshinryu Karate.
