Welcome to the 2015 Michigan Modern Arnis Summer Camp! This camp will focus on Modern Arnis, a practical yet extremely POWERFUL martial art as taught by the late Grandmaster Remy Presas. This event will provide FOUR intense days of martial arts training with FOUR of the very best instructors in the world. This camp is geared for anyone who wants to gain knowledge in martial arts and self defense. From the first time beginner to the seasoned expert. EVERYONE will benefit from the knowledge of these experts while enjoying a comfortable and friendly training atmosphere.
INSTRUCTORS
Master of Tapi-Tapi Chuck Gauss (Camp Host)
Since the age of six, Master Gauss has studied all different styles of martial arts, including Japanese Jiu Jitsu, Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwan Do and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. However, he found his calling in 1991 when he met Grandmaster Remy Presas, the founder of Modern Arnis. In December 2000, Master Gauss was one of seven people in the world promoted to Master of Tapi-Tapi by Professor Presas. A retired defensive tactics and PPCT instructor during his distinguished 24 year career as a law enforcement officer, Master Gauss currently serves as an executive protection specialist. In addition, he runs his own martial arts school while serving on the board of directors of the Internation Modern Arnis Federation, the official Modern Arnis organization founded by Grandmaster Presas. His achievements and credentials include:
* Master of Tapi-Tapi in Modern Arnis from Professor Remy Presas.
* 7th Degree Black Belt in Ryukyu Kempo from Grandmaster George Dillman.
* 1st Degree Black Belt in Judo.
Master Of Tapi-Tapi Ken Smith
Sensei Ken began his study of karate in Indiana at 18 years old. After moving to Orland Park, he studied Isshinryu Karate under Jesse Gallegoes, a 9th degree black belt, it was in this style that Sensei Ken earned a 6th degree black belt. He continued to grow as a martial artist, studying Modern Arnis and pressure points with George Mazek, a 4th degree black belt in Modern Arnis. However, it as his introduction and training with Grandmaster Remy A. Presas, founder and creator of Modern Arnis, that impacted Sensei Ken’s training immensely. Grandmaster Presas, know as ‘Professor’, promoted him to the level of Master of Tapi-Tapi. An active leader of the International Modern Arnis Federation, he continues to pass on Professor’s art, traveling all over the United States, France, England, Germany and Canada. His achievements and credentials include:

* 9th Degree Black Belt in Ryukyu Kempo from Grandmaster George Dillman.
* 6th Degree Black Belt in Isshinryu Karate.
Datu Kelly Warden
Known internationally for his cutting edge progressive opinions on personal martial skill development Mr. Kelly S. Worden broke from traditional arts and became the founder of Natural Spirit International, a system that embraces all styles; yet instead of glorifying the unique dissimilarities each art represents, he transcended political tension and unified worldwide acceptance of his art The Natural Spirit Way by “Connecting the Systems.” Natural Spirit International is a dynamic system of multi-functional offensive and defensive strategies. All elements of personal defense are researched including the historical significance of foundational forms passed from generation to generation from the original founders of all martial arts. His achievements and credentials include:

* Inventor of several popular self-defense tools including "The Travel Wrench", "The Saf-T-Wrench", "Silent Fighter Training Dummy Simulator", and the "WORTAC Tactical Knife".

Datu Shishir Inocalla
Datu Shishir Inocalla has over 40 years training in Filipino Martial Arts. A direct student of Professor Remy Presas, he was the first "Datu" chief of Modern Arnis.
He was promoted to Grandmaster by Arnis Maharlika, Sokeship Council of Grandmasters and Worldwide Family of Modern Arnis. He was vice chairman of the I.M.A.F.P., and President of Arnis Canada and Philippines. In addition, he established the first Arnis FMA cultural educational center in Parañaque City. He was also appointed as a "Knight of Rizal".
Currently, he is the Vice President for iARNIS and Chairman for Culture and Tourism for Arnis Philippines, the National Sports Association recognized by the Philippines Sports Commission, Philippines Olympic Committee and National Committee in Culture and Arts.In 1992, he was "Michelangelo" in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies.Datu Shishir will be teaching on Saturday.
Grandmaster Bong Jornales
Grandmaster Bong Jornales was a personal student of Professor Remy Presas. He has trained multiple students to countless world and national championships. Grandmaster Bong will be teaching on Saturday.
