Guy Platten was appointed Secretary General of ICS in August 2018. He has extensive experience in the maritime industry both at sea and ashore and is a qualified Master Mariner. He has held a number of senior positions including Chief Executive of the UK Chamber of Shipping, Chief Executive of Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (a ferry and port owning company providing lifeline ferry services to communities in Scotland) and Director of Marine Operations for the Northern Lighthouse Board which is responsible for lighthouses, buoys, beacons and Aids to Navigation throughout Scotland and the Isle of Man. Guy’s career at sea began in 1982 with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service. He joined the RNLI in 1993 as an Inspector of Lifeboats, latterly as Inspector for Scotland training and overseeing lifeboat crews around the coast and following this he served with the MOD as a Salvage Officer and led or contributed to a number of projects including the removal of oil from a sunken World War 2 battleship, recovery of ditched aircraft and the refloating of a grounded warship.

Andrew Dickson is Development Director with CWP Global, which has a portfolio of export-oriented green hydrogen & ammonia projects in Australia (including the 26GW Asian Renewable Energy Hub project (www.asianrehub.com) and the 50GW Western Green Energy Hub), in northern Africa and in South America. He has been a renewable energy project developer since 2004 and has developed wind / solar PV / solar thermal / microgrids / hydrogen / ammonia projects in most Australian states. He has a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree from the University of New South Wales, and a Master of Science and Technology commercialisation degree from the University of Adelaide. She is a specialist Systems Safety professional having refined her skill set over two decades of experience as a system designer, system safety analyst, and specialist functional safety consultant across multiple industries including ports, maritime, defence, offshore energy, and major hazard facilities. Masters qualified and a Chartered Professional Engineer, Cherie's technical expertise includes the application of functional safety to complex systems, SIL verification and functional safety assessments and the development of safety management systems. Cherie is an approved assessor and expert advisor on major hazard facilities, an independent safety assessor, and delivers private and public system safety engineering training.

Jesse Fahnestock is Head of Research and Analysis at the Global Maritime Forum, where he leads the work on First Movers towards Zero-Emission Shipping. His background is in energy and climate, having worked in business, research, and civil society on delivering the energy transition. In the early 2000’s he helped establish the Global Risks program at the World Economic Forum, where his focus was on climate and energy security risks. He then served as a climate policy advisor for the Swedish power company Vattenfall, and later as head of energy and policy foresight at the Swedish national research institute RISE. Before joining the Global Maritime Forum he was the global lead for the Energy Transition at WWF International. Jesse holds a B.A. in history from Princeton University and an MBA from the University of Oxford. He lives in Stockholm, Sweden.

Paul Hodgson is an advisor in innovation, the energy transition and economic growth with diverse experience and insights gained over a 30 year career. Amongst his current roles, he is Interim CEO of the Scaling Green Hydrogen Cooperative Research Centre Bid, a member of the Australian Government’s Low Emissions Technology and Services Working Group, and a Non-Executive Director of the Queensland Manufacturing Institute. With a Bachelor of International Business and a Master of Sustainable Development, he is passionate about driving greater innovation and collaboration to maximise Australia’s participation in global energy transition opportunities. While at NERA, Australia’s industry growth sector for the energy resources sector, he led the development of the national hydrogen technology cluster network, which now has eighteen regional clusters across Australia.

First elected in 2001, Catherine King represents the electorate of Ballarat in the Australian Parliament. Following the 2019 election, Catherine moved to the key economic portfolio of Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development after serving six years as Labor’s Shadow Minister for Health and Medicare. In Government, Catherine was in Cabinet as Minister for Regional Australia, Local Government and Territories. Catherine earlier served as Minister for Regional Services, Local Communities and Territories and Minister for Road Safety, and before that as Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Parliamentary Secretary for Health. Catherine holds Bachelor Degrees in Social Work and Laws and a Masters’ in Public Policy. Prior to entering Parliament, Catherine was a senior manager at KPMG’s Consulting Practice. As a regional MP, Catherine is a strong advocate for the seven million Australians who live outside our capital cities.

Sanjay has held various positions in the private and public sector across his career. Prior to joining GCMD, he was the Executive Director of the Singapore Maritime Institute which is responsible for funding maritime research projects with industry and building local capabilities in the maritime sector, an appointment in 2018 after more than 2 years as a Programme Director/Senior Scientist at the Energy Research Institute at the Nanyang Technological University (ERI@N) managing the NRF funded Smart Multi Energy System project. His experience in the private sector has primarily been in the oil and gas, as well as energy sectors. The roles range from line management and business development at ExxonMobil, management consulting with McKinsey to policy and industry development for the Energy Market Authority and business leadership with DNVGL. In management consulting, he was involved in refining operational improvements, fuels and lubes retail strategy and corporate performance culture transformation. At DNVGL, he was engaged in Smart grids and power systems, renewables and grid integration, energy efficiency, electricity markets and energy policy. As the Director of Industry Development at the Energy Market Authority, he was in charge of three key clean technology projects namely the Intelligent Energy System Pilot (aka Smart Grid), the Electric Vehicle Test bed and the Pulau Ubin Renewable energy project. He is currently a council member of the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (2011) and a member of MTI’s Pro-Enterprise Panel (2019). In 2020, he was also appointed to the Management Committee of Ecolabs, The Centre of Innovation for Energy, Advisory Board for Qi Square and District Councillor for the Central Singapore Community Development Council.

Ambassador Paul Gulleik Larsen is a career diplomat with 27 years of international experience, including Norwegian MFA postings in Belgrade (as Chargé d’affaires 1991-1994), in New York (as Counsellor for Norway in the UN Security Council 2001-2002), and in Moscow (as Deputy Head of Mission 2002-2007). Outside the MFA, Paul has served as diplomatic advisor in the Office of the Prime Minister of Norway in 1998-1999, and as Chief of Staff and Director at the UN World Food Program (WFP) in Rome 2007-2013. While at WFP, Paul sat in the Strategic Leadership Group and represented WFP in G8, G20 and UN inter-agency bodies. After returning to MFA in Oslo in 2013, Paul served in the UN Department as Project Director for policy and coordination of Agenda 2030/SDG and as Special Envoy for Security Council Affairs, responsible for strategy and policy for preparing Norway’s membership of the UN Security Council in 2021-22. As Ambassador of Norway in Canberra from September 2018, Paul is responsible for Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa, Kiribati, Nauru, Tuvalu and Cook Islands. Paul has a Master of Science degree from the London School of Economics and a B.A. from the University of Oslo. He received the French Ordre du Mérite Agricole during the French G20 presidency in 2011
