You’re invited to meet girls from the Afghan Child Education and Care Organization (AFCECO) by video conference, and learn why their orphanage must move to a safer area.  The video conference will be held at CSI Regent Park on Tuesday, December 15th from 10:00 am to noon.  Refreshments will be served.

This year has so far been disastrous for Afghanistan, and especially for women and girls. Taliban and ISIS have gripped their power over more territory and their main targets are the powerless segment of society, women and girls.  Recent reports indicate that they have stoned to death several girls and burned down many girls’ schools. 

 

AFCECO’s security team recently has become alarmed by the deteriorating security conditions in the area where their girls orphanage (called Mehan Orphanage) is located and have advised the founder of AFCECO, Andeisha Farid, this orphanage should move as soon as possible to a safer place in Kabul.  Therefore, now Andeisha and her management team are now urgently trying to raise the money needed to make this possible.

 

AFCECO has also been a target of Islamic militants for some time and they are very well aware of what we are doing for the girls.  These hardliners believe AFCECO is “westernizing” the children and moving them away from their hardcore values.

We are seeking to build a team of volunteers to spread the word and help host a fund raising event at CSI in mid-January that will be broadcast online via Google Hangout-on-Air.
