MEDIEVAL MONASTIC MYSTICS AND THEIR WORLDS

Friday, July 16 - Sunday, July 18, 2021

Participants in this workshop will be intro-duced to the writings & history of Benedic-tine spiritual writers and mystics including Smaragdus, Hildegard of Bingen, Peter the Venerable, and Gertrude the Great, in order to glimpse how the practices of lectio divina and liturgical prayer led these saints to record their experience of God in texts, music, and images.

Fr. Luke Dysinger has been a monk of Valyermo since 1980.  He is a priest and a physician who writes and teaches in the fields of mystical theology and biomedical ethics.  He earned a Ph.D. at Oxford University and currently teaches at St. John's Seminary in Camarillo, CA as well as online courses.
