Medical Marijuana in Ohio

Workshop Objectives: Participants will gain a brief history of cannabis and the basics of the endocannabinoid system.  Common phytocannabinoids and their properties will be reviews, as will delivery methods of cannabis.  The 21 qualifying conditions for which a physician can recommend cannabis use in Ohio will be discussed, and the available evidence for treatment of these conditions with cannabis will be highlighted.  Potential adverse effects and the incidence of marijuana use disorder will be described.  Presenters will discuss the basics of Ohio’s Medical Marijuana Control Program, the role of the employer, and how this medication will play a part in EAPs and MAT programs.  An overview of how the program is working thus far, as well as the intake forms being used in some dispensaries will be provided. Marijuana treatment case studies which pertain to counselors and mental health providers will be reviewed. 

Workshops run from 8:30-11:45a unless otherwise noted.  Registration fee is $55; non-credit observer fee is $15
