IStructE UAE Regional Group Committee is inviting you to a talk (hybrid) by Magdi El Hammamy, Product Line Manager, Building Line, Mapei LLC and Shatha Weldali, Product Line Manager, Waterproofing Line, Mapei LLC on the topic “Mapei’s solutions for repairing, strengthening, and waterproofing concrete”.
Mapei are a global, market-leading manufacturer of construction chemicals, founded in Milan, Italy 85 years ago. Mapei offer a complete range of products and solutions, developed to meet sophisticated design requirements for new constructions, as well as innovative systems for repairing and consolidating existing structures.
This hybrid session will focus on the principles and practices of structural below-ground waterproofing, introducing Mapei’s range of solutions and best practices for good quality assurance on site, and provide a summary of basic principles of the repair of concrete, including reasons for deterioration of steel and methods of structural strengthening using FRP and HPC.
This is a hybrid event that will be held at Heriot Watt University, Dubai with streaming on Zoom and Youtube.
The event will be followed by a networking session giving an opportunity to meet other professionals from the industry including IStructE committee members who will be glad to answer any questions you have. Refreshments will be provided.

About the Speakers:
Magdi El Hammamy – Mapei
Magdi is the Regional Product Line Manager, Building Line, responsible for the Middle East and East Africa. As a civil engineer with 20 years of experience in the construction chemical industry, he is expert in providing the most suitable technologies using building line solutions including FRP strengthening and concrete repair methodologies and applications.
Shatha Weldali – Mapei
Shatha is Regional Product Line Manager for Waterproofing and Sealants, responsible for Levant, GCC and East Africa. As a qualified civil engineer with 14 years of experience in the construction chemicals industry, she offers a wealth of knowledge and expertise from within the sector and can provide excellent technical support and advice relating to products and application methods for various types of construction methodologies and fields of application.
