The Legal Writing Institute is pleased to invite all new teachers of legal writing to participate in our annual New Teacher Training Bootcamp! “New” doesn’t just mean “brand new”–anyone in their first few years of teaching the first year legal writing course can benefit from the bootcamp! And “teachers” includes all teachers of 1L legal writing, including new full-time faculty, fellows, and adjunct faculty.

The bootcamp will be hosted virtually by Stetson University College of Law and provides an introduction to teaching 1L legal writing from expert legal writing faculty as well as advice from more junior colleagues about getting started. Topics include managing the 1L legal writing classroom, problem design, activities and exercises, DEI in the legal writing classroom, AI, grading and giving feedback, and teaching with technology.

Bootcamp participants receive two days of interactive training and will leave the bootcamp with a set of teaching materials and resources they can use in their fall courses. There will also be opportunities to socialize and network with facilitators and other participants.

Login information will be emailed 48 hours before the Bootcamp.
