Lost Wax Casting Weekend open to all silver students

Class meets Saturday and Sunday 1:00 to 4:00 PM, May 6th & 7th.

Have you been wanting to cast some projects, or have you just wanted to try casting? This event will provide you an opportunity to use the OGMS casting equipment to cast a few small projects. Attendees will be walked through the basics of model preparation, spruing and investing on Saturday. On Sunday we will cast metal.

This event is open to all current and past OGMS students from any adult class. This is an adult only class.

Attendees can obtain some wax to create a model with from the OGMS Shop Steward on March Member's Night, if they do not have their own casting wax supply. Sign up is not necessary to just pick up some wax. Attendees will be limited to a maximum of 2 ounces total metal weight per flask, two flask limit.

Attendees will need to bring prepared wax models, natural materials (leaves, small twigs or other light weight combustable materials- no plastic) and or press-molds or injection molds to make their castable models.

Models will be limited to small items such as rings, charms, small focal pieces or natural pieces. All casting will be done in sterling silver. Attendees can bring their own clean scrap such as wire trimmings or unsoldered sheet scraps. Instructor will have casting grain available for purchase at 20% above market rate to cover shipping and credit expenses- quantites will be limited.

There will be a $12.00 consumables fee will be charged, it can be paid for as an add-on at registration or paid cash at the event.
