Please note, class is sold out when 8 positions are filled.
This four week class will provide an opportunity for all who wish to try their hand at casting wax figures with a centrifugal arm machine. If you have made your own models in the past, please bring them to class. We will evaluate them for castability, making corrections as needed for best success. If you have never made a wax model, you will have an opportuity to try your hand, or you can choose a mold to make a wax model from. OGMS has lots of options to choose from. We will not be casting natural or plastic materials in this session.
Learn about the lost wax process and how to design your models for comfort, metal conservation and ease of finishing. Bring all your clean (no solder) sterling scrap from other projects to recycle it into great new pieces. Attendees will be able to cast small items such as rings, charms pendants and decorative elements. We will not be casting base metals in this class. Nor will we attempt any large sculptural figurines or belt buckles, as we do not have the appropriate equipment for large work.
Students should arrive ready to get to work. Four weeks will afford those with focus, a minimum of two castings. Bringing prepared models will speed up your process, but is not necessary.
This class is held at our Durley park Classroom, 950, W Hill St, located on the west parking lot (behind the baseball diamond), accessed from the alley off of Hill St.
