What the research tells us to support whole-school reading reform
This conference will reinvigorate your teaching soul! Geared for classroom teachers, special education teachers, reading teachers, literacy specialists, school librarians & school leaders with a passion for
literacy and special education, participants will be presented with a review of the
research to best support classroom and school-wide literacy practices.
Participants will build capacity to assess, lead, and implement best practices related to the following:
ü Assessing and meeting the needs of struggling readers
ü Reading and Writing…literacy’s reciprocal properties
ü Creating a rich literate environment to support all learners
ü Practicing what we preach – collaboration around school-wide literacy initiatives
ü The forgotten initiative of Response to Intervention (RTI)
ü Engaging parents/guardians to support the teaching of reading & writing at home
- Date/TIME/Location: Friday, May 12, 2017; Check-in begins at 9:00 AM. The conference will be held from 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM at the Hampton Inn: 680 Commack Road, Commack, NY 11725
- Fee: $165 (Registrant is responsible for full payment if cancellation is not received by Friday, May 5th, 2017) Hot beverages, as well as a light continental breakfast will be provided.
- Registration/Payment: Online registration only. Credit card or checks accepted. Full payment or school issued Purchase Order must be received no later than 10 business days prior to the conference date. Select the “check” payment option during online-line registration if a Purchase Order is being utilized.
