Lines Mini Courses 2017

Mammals, Birds, and Plants! Calling all future naturalists! Come and learn about mammals, birds, plants, and seeds. Your child will learn about nature while having fun through hands-on activities and crafts utilizing natural materials like clay, pine cones, acorns, and seeds. This course is guided by experts from Citizens for Conservation in Barrington.

Instructor: BHS Football Students Learn the basics of flag football - instead of tackling the ball carrier, defensive players try to pull the flags off the ball carrier’s belt. It’s the perfect game for boys or girls.

Instructors: Therese Mercure, Any Oryhon, and Liisa Gent + BHS Volunteers Ready, Set, Kick – Learn, move, and have fun with friends playing this fun game!

Instructor:  Sylvan Learning Sylvan Robotics uses fun, hands-on projects to get creative juices flowing. Your child will learn how to build and program robots – all while making friends, developing new skills and having a great time learning important STEM skills.

Instructor: Betsy Brookbank, Lines Parent Calling all future volleyball stars!!! Come learn the basic skills of volleyball; bump, set, serve, spike!! This mini course will keep your child active while developing the love of the game! Instructor, Betsy Brookbank, was an All-Big 10 player at the University of Illinois who then went on to play 3 professional seasons and also coached at Saint Louis University and the Barrington High School Boys & Girls programs.

Instructor:  Mario Licciardi Do you have a guitar, but are not sure how to play it?  Do you already play guitar, but want to sharpen your skills?  Mario Licciardi (www.marsguitar.com), a well known musician and Consolidated Music instructor for the last 21 years, will teach you basics or help you improve what you already know.  All levels are welcome.  Each student must bring a guitar.

Instructor: Kristin Nuzzo, Lines Parent Have a love of fashion and an interest in drawing? This course is for you! Learn some fundamentals of sketching with a focus on fashion and enjoy time with friends!

Instructor: Laura Burkhead, Lines Parent & Megan Uhran BHS Student Bring your creative streak and learn the art of writing and illustrating an interesting autobiography! Teach the reader about how individual and unique you are when you compose a book about a subject matter you know best - yourself!

Instructor:  Sylvan Learning Sylvan Coding features the renowned Tynker technology that leverages an easy step-by-step introduction to coding and convenient drag-and-drop technology. Students learn computer programming skills through video game design. The courses foster a creative learning environment where students learn how to bring characters and stories to life using basic coding building blocks. Students also learn design conception, pattern recognition, algorithmic thinking, and problem solving skills.

Instructors: 3-5 Jill Barnum & Brogan Barnum, Gavin Urhan - Lines Parent & BHS / Station Volunteers The most popular class in Mini Courses! This class promises to be a “REAL BALL”… that is, Dodgeball to be exact!  In this action packed class, you will play games, learn rules and practice techniques.  Come have a blast with your friends!
