In this unique two-day workshop, poet L.I. Henley and painter Zara Kand will guide you in both oil painting and poetry exercises, with an emphasis on the effects of using light and shadow to create depth and meaning.
During these sessions we will discuss how the practices of painting and poetry overlap and bolster one another, and how elements of light and shadow can be used to heighten expression in both mediums. Each day will include stimulating direct instruction of both technical and conceptual applications, empowering exercises to advance creativity, and time to generate new material, all within the relaxing and beautiful setting of an artistically built lodge near Joshua Tree National Park.
Complimentary light lunch and refreshments will be provided daily by Epicurean Fling Catering. In addition, we will conclude the workshop with a celebratory luncheon on Sunday from 3-3:30pm.
No previous experience in oil painting or poetry necessary. All experience levels welcome.
We are excited to get creative with you!
