Back by popular demand, the Lexington Bourbon Academy is hosting another Bourbon Master Class Event! You may think you know bourbon... but how much do you really know? Or maybe you are just bourbon curious? It’s no secret that everyone in the Bluegrass is talking about it! This is your chance to prove your knowledge and learn the facts and have a fun experience doing it. Join us for a one of a kind Lexington Bourbon Academy class designed to shape you into a Certified Bourbon Steward!

In Partnership with the Stave and Thief Society and Barrel House Distillery we invite you to a hands on training class with America’s Native Spirit! 

Walk through the key process elements that make bourbon come to life! In a three hour course you will explore the following:

- Historical milestones and laws of bourbon

- Understanding the difference between bourbon and other types of whiskey/spirits

- Hands on walkthrough of the distillation process

- Review of Maturation and Aging 

- Sensory Analysis and understanding congeners/flavor profile traits and characteristics 

- Learn the art of building a flight 

- Receive a course book and code to test as a certified bourbon steward with the Stave and Thief Society on completion of the class

Real distillers. Real subject matter experts. Real answers! And an opportunity to become a fully certified and recognized bourbon steward to show your friends and colleagues you definitely know your stuff. For the bourbon fans, service industry professional or hardcore enthusiasts alike, our classes will take a creative and welcoming approach to guiding you on your journey in getting to know bourbon a little bit better. And most importantly, have fun while you do it!

Our Master Class will be held on Sunday April 16th from 3:30 PM through 7:00 PM. Limited 25 seats available.

Price will be $145 per person and include all course materials and test code to take the Certified Bourbon Steward exam.

John Coffee IV

John Coffee IV is the CEO of Beyond the Barrel, a bespoke service company focused on private bourbon experiences, events, and education. He is founder of the Lexington Bourbon Academy and known for his current roles as both the President of the Kentucky Bourbon Influencers (KBI) and Co-Host of the YouTubeChannel - Let's Talk Bourbon. He also recently assumed the esteemed position of Executive Bourbon Steward-In-Residence for The Thirsty Fox, a Ouita Michel Restaurant. Previously, he held the position as President of the Lexington Bourbon Society and Brand Ambassador for Rabbit Hole Distilling. John is a professional bourbon educator and a certified, Enterprise level Executive Bourbon Steward, recognized by the Kentucky Distiller's Association. You may have seen him around town standing in line next to you for limited release bourbons, planning and organizing bourbon events and festivals throughout central Kentucky. On any given day, he is proud to delve into the mysteries of bourbon lore, share a dram and talk at length about America's Native Spirit.
