Junior Sailing Program (ages 11-18)
Structured for kids looking to further the sailing skills and knowledge introduced in the Opti program (or equivalent), this course is also open to new sailors. It provides lessons with the goal of developing confident, self-sufficient sailors who can set up, launch, sail, dock, and de-rig on their own. Each day, students will solo or, at the instructor's discretion, sail with one other student to ensure enjoyment and learning for all participants. Lessons will be taught using the Laser, a larger, faster, more technical boat than the Opti.
· The program runs 2 weeks (10 classes)
· Class size is limited to 25 students. Refunds will be offered if a session is cancelled due to low enrollment.
· Class starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.
Session 1 (July 1 - July 12)
Session 2 (July 22 - July 26)
Session 3 (July 29 - August 2)
All students must have a life jacket with attached whistle, sneakers, clothes they are comfortable getting wet in, and a change of clothes. Water-resistant sunscreen is recommended.
Junior students need to be picked up promptly as adult supervision may not always be available following class.
