Want to learn how to play jazz?
We will be hosting a full day of making music - specifically jazz - and learning many of the
unique styles and techniques used while performing jazz. We will be exploring the following:
• the “5 Pillars of Jazz Interpretation” used by the Westwinds Silver Jazz Band
• an introduction to improvisation techniques
• learning the blues scale
• de-coding the 12-bar blues and reading chord changes
• all instruments welcome
It will be a fun, relaxed and inspiring day of making music with old and new friends!

Westwinds is a not-for-profit Adult community organization operated by and for its members. Regardless of your level of experience, we have a spot for you in one (or more) of our 6 concert bands, 5 jazz bands or 4 choirs. These groups rehearse, in a structured learning environment, once per week from 7 pm to 9 pm, from September through May.
