Dear IOSH Members,

IOSH Singapore Branch is delighted to invite you to join us for an IOSH Networking Night at Marina Mandarin Singapore on 31st Aug 2018, Friday. We are pleased to have Mr Andy Lewis to share the Technology – Our Safest Enabler. Technology is changing every aspect our lives, at home and at work. So, it’s a natural progression that technology, if it hasn’t already, will begin to affect the way we approach workplace safety in the very near future.

This presents a unique opportunity to achieve both business and people outcomes, while at the same time balancing cost and ROI. The current innovations are prohibitively expensive, but there was a time when a fax machine was prohibitively expensive.

As an industry we can demand the solutions that will meet our needs and keep our people safe. This includes factoring in changes like an ageing workforce, a population with declining fitness and ever-increasing demands on business to do more with less.

Prior to his arrival in Singapore for our branch networking night, Lewis will be speaking at SAFETYconnect 2018, in Brisbane, Australia on 30th Aug. Be sure not to miss this great evening.

Bio of Andy Lewis

Andy, originally for Middlesbrough in the North East of England, and moved to Sydney, Australia in 2011 along with his wife. Andy is a member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) in the UK and is a member of the Singapore Branch and has also been a member of the National Safety Council of Australia (NSCA) since 2012.

Lewis started his Safety journey in 2002, after leaving the Royal Air Force, and has worked in many sectors in the UK such as Local Government, Public Transportation and Aviation as well as Electrical and Construction environments in the Multi Dwelling Unit spaces.

Since his move to Australia, Lewis has been involved in several high-profile projects within the Safety spaces such as Service Streams NBNco & AMRS Solar projects, TPG’s VHA rollout and Broadcast Australia’s National DTV Restack project.

Over the last 7 years Andy has consulted on a number of Safety, Compliance and Risk initiatives from implementing Technology within organisations to reduce paperwork and gain efficiencies, to assisting a number of businesses achieve ISO standards and Federal Safety Accreditation.

Lewis sees Technology as the latest tool in injury and illness prevention, worker engagement and a long-term cost reducer. “Technology is something that not only has a significant potential to make our work environment safer, but allows businesses to increase their productivity and manage risk more dynamically”.
