Intro to Racing Program (ages 11-17)
Created for adolescent sailors who have already taken our Junior Sailing Program (or equivalent) this course builds on existing skills and applies them to the more technical elements of sailing and racing. Lessons will cover racing tactics and techniques such as roll-tacking and jibing, calling lay-lines, and reading and responding to wind shifts. This class will be scheduled during weekends, providing the opportunity to meet and possibly crew for club racers after eachof the weekend day sessions. Classes will be taught in Lasers.
· The program runs 2 classes
· Class size is limited to 10 students. Refunds will be offered if a session is cancelled due to low enrollment.
· Class starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m., Saturday & Sunday.
All students must have a life jacket with attached whistle, sneakers, clothes they are comfortable getting wet in, and a change of clothes. Water-resistant sunscreen is recommended.
Junior students need to be picked up promptly as adult supervision may not always be available following class.
