Instruction in Internal Networking Skills Training

Keep it real

To build a network, the primary strategy is to talk to people and convince them to do business. Many people are able to do this mechanically: they know their way around, have their pitches and keywords sorted, and can get on with their business. The problem is that many people who try to network think of it as work. They see networking as work and view the relationships they build as only for business. Most people are able to spot inauthenticity and will likely refuse to network with the person. This can be avoided by focusing on being positive and building real relationships. If your target accepts your networking pitch, you should maintain a relationship with them as if you were friends and not business partners. Jorge, for example, is a fake person who uses his network to get a target to accept his pitch. However, once he gets what he needs , it's not worth the effort to keep in touch with that target. Don't be a user. Be genuine and positive words will spread about your business and bring you success.

Set goals

Knowing what you want is part of networking. When you first meet your target, this is the first thing they will ask: What do they want? You can't network if you don't have a goal or a motive to work towards. This is why you started networking. To achieve a goal you have set. You don't want your network to be based on a blind approach. Do not create relationships that you don't know you can maintain with the same quality as your top-level partners. Although it sounds harsh, a network is only as strong as the quality of its relationships. If you start a network with someone low-level in business, you can damage your reputation and then you will have to dump them. Discuss your goals and set targets with someone . Don't get discouraged if things don't go according to plan. It is okay to fail to achieve a goal; it is not acceptable to stop trying to reach that goal. You should aim to network with the best possible person, but don’t stop trying if they refuse to bite your bait. You can still reach the top of the stars if you aim for the limit of the universe but fail.

The Path to the Stars: Map the Path

Now you're ready to start networking. Once you have written down your goals , you can identify who you want to network to help make them a reality. It could be your family, friends, business colleagues, or people you only know through reputation. They will either make you goals real or speed up your progress towards them. This is a way to make your goals real and do something, such as socialize with your target. Invite the person you want in your life to have a meal and to discuss this. Jake, for example, has two-year goals to start a business. He sets goals to achieve this goal, such as getting capital, investments, staffing up, and identifying the right people. He invites them to lunch and builds a relationship while they discuss business. This leads to a highly quality, successful network. This is a great way to chart a course to success.
