Be part of the solution

Picture a future where the ELT industry has solved some of the biggest problems we are facing today.

  1. Our students are ready to take on challenging new careers.
  2. Our educators feel secure in their roles and valued as professionals
  3. Our industry practices have evolved to be zero-waste and carbon-neutral

But how do we get there?

That’s where you come in! Join us at InnovateELT 2020 and be part of the solution. We’ll be exploring:

  • The relevance of classroom practice to the future education and employment needs of English language students
  • Practical ideas for sustainable classrooms, schools and publishing
  • The wider context of changes in education, employment and the environment

You can expect:

  • 30+ insightful talks, workshops, plenaries, drop-in sessions and live demo lessons on zoom
  • Lively discussions and interactions in creative Coffee Breaks
  • A chance to mix with teachers, teacher trainers, managers, publishers and other ELT professionals
  • A team event and a competition

In the wake of the #ExtinctionRebellion protests and Dan Barber’s declaration that we are in a climate emergency, the conference is going green and 50% of proceeds will be donated to Plan International, a multinational NGO with the education of the most disadvantaged at its heart:

Our strategy is to work with vulnerable children and especially girls so that they can learn, lead, decide and thrive. Within the strategy we have an ambition to transform the lives of 100 million girls. Child sponsorship and grassroots community work are central to our strategy and achieving this ambition.

For more information, check out the website: https://plan-international.org/organisation/strategy

We don’t promise we’ll be perfect, we don’t promise we’ll be carbon neutral - but we’ll damn well try our best.

Come and join us at 9:30AM on Friday September 18th! [Spain time]

InnovateELT was set up in 2015 with the aim of discussing the role of innovation in language education and celebrating some of the most exciting things happening around us. In 2020, OxfordTEFL with the support of ELT Footprint brings you the online version of the conference. We can promise you the same great InnovateELT atmosphere but with a smaller carbon footprint!

Iryna Maksymova
Teacher
97ys Language Space

There is always that one thing that does it for every teacher. For Ira there is nothing more rewarding than watching her learners living to their fullest potential. Within an efficient language-learning environment Ira creates a real community fostering teenagers’ skills and personality traits. She raises awareness of growth mindset by launching and promoting a flashmob ‘more than a score’, which aims to remind teens that their personality and who they truly are is not defined by grades. She believes there is no such thing as “difficult” teenagers once you listen to them and treat them with love and respect. Ira is convinced the teacher should be a role model for young learners, while the dominant pronoun in the classroom should be ‘we’, not ‘you’. For this very reason she takes the state exams alongside her learners each year without fail. She is always on the lookout for new ideas and teaching solutions, driven by constant improvement and enthusiasm for interacting with her students.
