What is the Indigenous Economic Empowerment Convening?

With new funding from the Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) State of Washington to provide Financial Literacy Training, we developed the Native Financial Empowerment Training Program and provided on-line training to Natives throughout the States of WA & OR. Feedback received four our people:

  • Many Natives are unbanked
  • Struggling with credit issues
  • Lack of ability to find affordable housing

In response, T3, in partnership with partnership with the Kaiser Permanente Foundation, is planning a high-level convening to address Programs and Policies that prevent Indigenous Peoples from thriving.

Questions we want to address at the Convening:

  • What are the root causes leading to such a high level of homelessness for all people?
  • How can we gather in this post pandemic era to rebuild relationships and community with experts taking this work on?
  • What are the specific policies we can identify and change?
  • Who is doing this work?
  • What resources can they bring to the table?
  • What are successful models that can be replicated?
  • Last - how can we develop common messages and strategies with Indigenous people and allies to motivate policy makers to act?

Tribal Technology Training

https://www.tribaltechnology.org

T3/Tribal Technology Training is a Native led non-profit organization committed to advancing & delivering Digital & Financial Literacy training to Northwest Native peoples. Formed in 2015 with a resolution of support under leadership of the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI). T3 works to advance financial & technology policy and programs at the local, State and Federal levels. In response to the COVID 19 pandemic, the Native Digital Equity Coalition was organized to provide a platform to share strategies, best practices and programs to bridge the digital divide experienced by the NW Native communities.
