ICE Site Visit - Doha Metro Station and Mined Subway

Site Visit Description: The Doha Metro Gold line route is approximately 20.6km in total length including station lengths. Al Sadd Station, one of the thirteen included in Gold Line, is a four-level cruciform underground station box with concourse level, Gold Line platform and intermediate level, intermediate transfer level, Blue Line platform level and two under-platform service levels under each of the platforms. The Underground Station is 45m deep and is connected to two at-grade entrances. This site visit will take all attendees to oversee the current ongoing construction works and the adopted temporary design solutions (Excavation Lateral Support) for the station. Furthermore, the attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the mined tunnel which has been constructed using NATM methods to serve as a pedestrian crossing directly underneath a major arterial traffic route (C-Ring road), with an overburden of 16m connecting the main underground station and the eastern subway entrance at Al Sadd Station.

Site Visit Agenda:
1:00 pm technical presentation from Atkins Engineers in Atkins Office Burj Doha, West Bay (15 min presentation + 15 min discussion/questions).
Al Sadd C-Ring Station. Al Sadd Mined Subway.
1:30 pm Bus leaving from Atkins Office to C-Ring.
2:00 pm site induction.
2:15 pm site visit to Al Sadd Station.
2:45 pm site visit to Mined Subway.
3:15 pm Site Visit finishes.
3:30 pm Bus leaving towards Atkins office.
4:00 pm ICE event finished.
