Overview

Providing the best in public service for urban infrastructure can involve adopting planning solutions incurring higher design and construction risk than might otherwise be desired.  Ian will present a selection case histories from Australia and Singapore which have provided some unusual challenges.

About the Speaker

 Ian Johnson

Ian is currently Atkins’ Technical Director for the delivery of the Doha Metro Gold Line Design and is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 25 years experience in the design of heavy infrastructure within Asia, Australia, UK and the Middle East.

 

 

His experience has a focus on Design and Construct projects and Detailed Designs for complex urban infrastructure schemes which covers underground and elevated road and rail projects from feasibility through to detailed design stage as well as preparation of tender documentation and construction support.  He also has experience in maritime works for heavy load out facilities, container terminals and LNG receiving facilities.

 

Since mid-2015, his role as the Technical Director for Doha Metro’s Gold Line has seen him leading the delivery of 13 stations, the bored tunnel works, three switchboxes and two stabling yards all under a design and construct contract.  Design services have been delivered through BIM and include station planning, geotechnical and structural design, and building services works.
