Missy Hernandez graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) with a Bachelor’s of Social Work in 1981 and from the University of Texas, Austin, with a Master’s in Business Administration in 1985. Missy has worked in the food service industry for over 39 years, starting in food service operations. For the past 30 years, she has been in the food service distribution business. She began her career in food service distribution at Frostex Foods in sales and after Kraft General Foods acquired Frostex she moved into sales management. In 1994 she began working for Sysco Central Texas as the Sales Training Manager and retired as the Senior Director of Training and Development. As of January 2016, Missy retired from Sysco and now operates FocalPoint Coaching as certified small and mid-sized business coach and trainer. Her husband, Rudy, is a restaurant consultant.
Missy does training on food safety and customer service, life management & communications, and sales & management training. To date, Missy has successfully provided ServSafe Manager training to over 5000 people. She has been a speaker at the Texas Dietary Managers Annual Conference and does many continuing education courses at regional conferences. She holds training certifications from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, Development Dimensions International, Franklin Covey, Brain Tracy International, and John C Maxwell.
