PARENTS:

This homeschool year, we are going BIG on experiential learning opportunities: an education and a skill!

Homeschool high schoolers are invited to participate in a once a week, year-long BOAT BUILD where the students will literally and physically work as a team to build a wooden boat - a garvey.  This class is completely hands-on and will introduce and/or enhance key concepts in engineering, chemistry, construction, design, technology, mathematics, materials management and physics - to name some.  They will be introduced to CAD and design with 3-D print. In addition, the students will also work with a boat motor - learning its mechanics as well as the motor housing and steering.

This class will meet every Wednesday beginning October 4, 2017 from 10 a.m. through noon. There will be no class on November 22, 2017, December 27, 2017 and March 28, 2018. At year-end and after 33 weeks, the students will test their product design and finished work product on Saturday, June 2, 2018, via a boat launch - inviting family and friends to participate.

We need seven (7) students to get this off and running.
