Healthy Gardens: Market Square Party in the Park

Create healthy gardens that buzz with life.

Join Backyard Abundance and the Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department at the North Market Square Party in the Park to learn how to attract birds and butterflies to your yard with natural plantings of fruits and flowers.

The event is free and everyone is welcome.

Explore how to manage rainwater to your advantage and how to make sure your lawn is safe for children and pets.

Experts will be on hand to teach how to plan and plant a successful vegetable garden.

Free seed packets will be provided from Earl May Garden Center and New Pioneer Co-op.

Test your knowledge of herbs and butterfly-friendly flowers with local wildlife enthusiasts. As a bonus we will offer samples of hardy, easy-care fruits such as beach plum, pawpaw, and clove currant. Children’s activities will feature nature studies.

Boost your health and enjoy the great flavor of fresh, local produce distributed at no charge by Field to Family Farm Stand.
