Grow Easy Fruits

Which fruit trees and berry bushes are the easiest to grow and have the highest yields?

You don’t want to plant a fruit tree or berry shrub only to discover years later that it struggles to survive due to diseases and weather encountered in the Midwest.

During this class, you will take home all the knowledge, publications and inspiring ideas needed to successfully and enjoyably grow fruit in your landscape. High-yielding, low-maintenance and resilient varieties will be shared along with companion plants that will help plants thrive.

Only organic methods will be learned; no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers will be discussed.

Participants of any experience level are invited.

Yummy snacks are generously provided by New Pioneer Co-op.

COVID-19
Even though the class is held outside, masks and social distancing of at least 6’ will be required the entire time. (Depending upon CDC recommendations, we may change to online if the virus risk increases.)

REGISTRATION
Fee: $5 per family (up to 4 people)

LOCATION
We meet at the Wetherby Edible Forest, located west of the main parking lot at Wetherby Park, 2400 Taylor Drive, Iowa City.

EXPERIENCED TEACHER
Taught by Fred Meyer, permaculture designer and Master Gardener. Fred’s years of garden design experience will help you answer questions about specific challenges and opportunities in your garden.
