THIS TRAINING IS ONLY OPEN TO INVITED PARTICIPANTS: This training is limited to staff and faculty of the Texas A&M University System and their surrounding community partners. To attend this training, you must be a staff or faculty member at a Texas A&M University System School, staff or faculty at another local school that regularly partners with Texas A&M University on prevention efforts, or staff of a community-based agency in the city where Texas A&M University is located.

The Green Dot Strategy is a new and innovative approach to violence prevention. Green Dot harnesses the power of individual choices to shift social norms, resulting in broad-based culture change. Green Dot is based on a wealth of interdisciplinary research including social change theory, diffusion of innovation, communication, marketing, bystander intervention, and perpetration patterns. This 4-day training certifies attendees to implement the Green Dot Violence Prevention Strategy on their college campus. Components of the training include:

- A comprehensive review of the research and theories which inform the Green Dot Strategy.
- Elements of the Green Dot Strategy and curriculum.
- Developing an implementation plan.

Attendees experience an interactive and intriguing 4 days of training which inspire renewed hope and a vision for a safer world.

 

You must attend the entire training (9am to 5pm daily) to become a Green Dot College instructor.

 

The registration fee for Texas A&M University – College Station staff and faculty members is $275 while the registration for other System Member Schools is $550 per person.  Registration includes lunch as well as parking.

Before registering for the Green Dot Institute, you, your direct supervisor, and your department head must sign the Green Dot Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which outlines your responsibilities as a Green Dot Facilitator.  In addition, please complete the application found at the back of the MOU.  Email the MOU and application to greendot@tamu.edu.  Once your MOU and application have been received, you will be notified within two business days regarding the status of your application. 

 

Participants from other Texas A&M University System Schools

Participants representing System Schools other than Texas A&M University – College Station must be approved by their school’s point of contact before registering for the training.  A list of points of contact can be found on the Texas A&M University Green Dot Institute webpage (http://greendot.tamu.edu/gd-institute/). 

 

Attendees will be responsible for their own lodging.  Please consult the Texas A&M University Green Dot Institute webpage for information about rooms which have been blocked for out of town participants.
