The Global VAT & Indirect Tax Business Group is pleased to inform you about the Mazars VATNo. Check Tool. A tool to provide services to our clients regarding the validity of VAT numbers.

The tool:

- verifies bulk amounts of VAT numbers; and
- saves proof on your hard disk that the exemption/reverse charge was applied lawfully.

Some of our member state firms already had tooling that aided the validation process to some extent. With this tool we believe everyone can start or improve the services to be rendered. Please note the European Commission Quick Fixes 2020 will increase the necessity of the VAT number verification process, and thus its commercial value.

The tool is built to be used internally and for a fee. The Excel-based tool can’t and should not be supplied to clients or other third parties.

Furthermore, it would be good to harmonize pricing to avoid discrepancies within Mazars. The attached instruction sheet provides more insight and guidance on that part.

Costs

The tool, developed in the Netherlands, is based on the existing Dutch and Czech tooling. From our experience so far, a set price of at € 350 per month, €  4,200 annually, for monthly checks is accepted by clients. However, if the pricing model in your countries might be different, please feel free to adopt it accordingly.

Even though there are alternative solutions on the market, we believe this specific tool provides enough added value for such a fee, fitting your local region.
