Smart Freight Centre leads the Global Logistics Emission Council (GLEC) as a voluntary partnership of companies, green freight programs and industry associations working to support businesses to improve logistics efficiency and reduce emissions.  We published the first (and only) global framework for logistics emissions methodologies in June 2016, which helps companies to quantify their progress in a consistent and comparable way. Location and date: We will be holding the meeting of GLEC in New York on 21st September at UPS office's I 325 W Houston St, New York NY 10014 (please note this address has changed).

With work ongoing to update the GLEC Framework in preparation for v2.0 in 2018, and due to a significant increase in interest to implement the Framework, we have decided to invite a wider audience than our formal list of members and consultees.  We hope that this will provide the opportunity to spread the word about GLEC and the GLEC Framework, and stimulate a comprehensive discussion about the potential opportunities and benefits offered by the implementation of the GLEC Framework and the optimal direction of future developments.

The objectives for the meeting are:

·       Inform existing members, new companies and stakeholders about GLEC and the GLEC Framework (Current status, Development, Plans)

·       Share needs and experiences of GLEC Framework implementation by companies

·       Explore opportunities to embed the GLEC Framework in existing programs and initiatives plus associated benefits

·If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact us via Kate Hay (GLEC Coordinator) at Smart Freight Centre: kate.hay@smartfreightcentre.org

An agenda for the event can be found here.
