GIPAW holds a Fall Conference at various unique and interesting venues around the State. In addition, the organization conducts their annual business meeting where elections for board of directors vacancies are filled. Several informative sessions are held and attendees will enjoy a round table discussion where members can ask questions of the group and spend some time networking with others regarding common issues and solutions. Day 1 ends with dinner and a planned group activity. Day 2 begins with breakfast and additional presentations.
Working in government IT can be very challenging. GIPAW continues to be an organization where the sharing of ideas is done regularly whether through the very active ListServ or the face to face meetings. GIPAW helps its entire membership feel connected to those across Wisconsin that deal with the same daily issues.

CANs are created by connecting people and data networks. But what is a CAN, why might a CAN be right for your community, and what is your role as an anchor institution in creating these networks? This session will provide WiscNet's insight on Community Area Networks and leverage resources and knowledge from its CAN Advisory group -- how to start a CAN, mapping your community and who to connct, funding opportunities, what to consider ensuring sustainability, and why communities build CANs. As a CAN itself, WiscNet brings its concept to a state-wide level with their CAN of CANs strategy.
