"Get With the Program" - FREE Professional Development Event
Is your school STEM ready? Most schools tick the box for Science and Mathematics; many also cover Technology. What about Engineering? This full day program will include legitimate examples from the entire acronym including ways to work inclusively. Participants will get an opportunity to program microprocessors using the new TI-InnovatorTM (no prior experience required) and run data logging sessions that bring together many aspects of STEM in a single lesson.
All sessions are FREE, attend all day or part of the day, the choice is yours!
Registration closes 15th July 2016 at 12:00pm
Please contact pdrego@list.ti.com or call 1300 138 140 for any further information.

Workshop 1A: Coding – Programming Success
It’s time to get with the program! In September 2015 the Federal Government announced that Coding is now an integral part of the Australian curriculum. (Digital Technologies). In this workshop participants will write some simple programs and use them immediately to conduct mathematical explorations. No prior experience is necessary. Participants will also receive a guided tour of the Texas Instruments “10 minutes of coding” website that contains hours of free progamming lesons and activities.
Workshop 1B: Motion- CBR2 & TI-84Plus CE
This workshop is guaranteed to get you moving. There is absolutely no doubt that movement helps the brain learn and remember new things, so it makes perfect sense to have students moving when learning about motion! The CBR2 can be used to help students improve understanding of linear functions through to calculus. In this workshop participants will learn to ‘walk the walk’, no prior experience necessary.
Workshop 2C: TI-InnovatorTM – The Hub of Innovation
In this workshop it is the participants that are in control. The TI-InnovatorTM puts control technology in the palm of your hands. The Australian curriculum requires students to “use code to control systems … use code to program a microcontroller”. This technology is more readily accessible than ever before, and it can connect directly to your calculator. Participants will use code to program a microprocessor and create simple circuits.
Workshop 2D: Data logging – Logging the Environment
Mathematics questions often contain references to the world around us, “a kettle cools at a rate proportional to…”, why not spend a little time capturing or logging real data from the environment. In this workshop participants will see how easy it is to collect data from a range of sensors for mathematics and science over a broad range of year levels.
