Gardner Club Breakfast

The Gardner Club Breakfast is back after a pandemic hiatus. Second only to a Stampede breakfast, this is Calgary’s best networking and fundraiser event which happens before 10am and we cannot wait to welcome you back to the Petroleum Club for our 2023 event.

Please join us Thursday, May 11, 2023, to hear our keynote speaker Adam Shoalts address Calgary on Wild Adventures. Adam is an amazing Canadian. Known as one of the world’s greatest living explorers, Adam has written four books on his explorations. He has many accolades, including being known for “making Canada better known to Canadians”. We are so excited to host him as our keynote speaker and make Canada better known to you. Proceeds from the event will be used by the Chinook Scout Foundation to support our Scouting programs and immerse area youth in outdoor activities and learning, with the hope of creating the next generation’s Adam Shoalts.

Featured Speaker: Adam Shoalts

This year’s speaker is Adam Shoalts, a professional explorer and national best-selling author. Adam will speak about his incredible solo journey across nearly 4,000km of Canada’s Arctic, as well as the skills and knowledge he has acquired in his exploration around the world.

A geographer and historian, he holds a Ph.D. from McMaster University, has participated in numerous archaeological digs, and undertakes solo expeditions in the most remote wilderness areas.

In 2013, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society for “extraordinary contributions to geography”. He is the Westaway Explorer-in-Residence of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and in 2016 was named a national champion of the Trans-Canada Trail.

We will be selling Adam’s book “Alone Against the North” at the event. In a gesture of remarkable generosity, Adam has donated all proceeds of the book sales to the Chinook Scout Foundation.

The Chinook Scout Foundation was established in 1974 to assist with the long term funding of the Chinook Council in Calgary. The Chinook Scout Foundation (CSF) provides financial assistance to families unable to afford scouts membership fees and program costs as well as scholarships to assist with post-secondary education. The CSF generates income from fundraising events such as the Gardner Club Breakfast, which is held annually in May, the Fellowship Dinner and our Founder’s Circle members.
